Have You Decided What Needs to Be Done?

This morning I stumbled upon an anonymous brilliant quote (after much searching found out who wrote it), which made me think quite a fair bit on my personal stuffs as well as office work. I believe that everyone has a decision to make at any given moment, and that many (including myself) have hesitated a while (some even longer) to decide on some things - it could be something as simple as "Should I take shower this morning?" (and yes, I did shower this morning, thank you. Smell me if you don't believe! *laughs*) to something as difficult as "Which road should I take to office today?" (it used to be my usual morning question, pathetic I know). I'm just pulling your leg, but the real tough question is yet to come - "Am I going to do what it takes to [fill in the blanks]?"

Apparently, I find that question to be left unanswered most of the time. I'm taking a daring guess that 90% of the world's population are caught up in this cycle of LifeQuestionGiven-Ignore-LifeQuestionGiven-Ignore. I made a number of pretty big decisions over the years (and even recently) - Some tough ones, some simple ones; and they have changed my life for the better (that much I know). I was once told by a wise person that "There are no bad or good decisions - every decision we make will lead us forward. But the question is do you want to move forward with hopes, or with regrets?" I find that pretty powerful, don't you?

Recently, I've been reminded by some friends that "Action speaks louder than words", and the action in the context simply refers to decision with commitment. Not just deciding (making a statement of choice) on a matter but also put in commitment (put in effort & work it out). If I want to see the results for any matter at all, that's all I have to do. They told me that "Anything's possible, if you know what you want, willing to work it out, and believe in yourself; Don't give up, don't let anybody steal your dreams, constantly remember what you want, and don't forget that"

I don't know about you, but don't 'cha love the support and encouragement shown there? I know I do! <3

Anyhoo, here is the quote which came about earlier this morning:

It doesn't matter what you are thinking or what fear u have, if you juz do it! Action is the only thing that matters. I can see at the end of my life, im not going to look back & say "Gosh, I wish I had taken more action" - Diana Von Welanetz Wentworth

Making it a Fun Friday!

It's Friday the 13th! Some says it's bad luck day, some says it's a lucky day, when a few would say it's just another day.. I'm neither, 'cause I'm the guy who decides to take up a challenge in making a difference today! At office earlier, I prepared a prop that would obviously cause a commotion, and with the help of my team, we created a visual impact! =P Check it out!

Made and designed it myself.
Finishing touch by the team.

This is for prop usage,
so really it doesn't have to exactly a guitar-look-alike..
Meant to create a visual impact =P
(yes we even included a strap for the guitar prop)

It surprised the HR personnel, of whom we presented this to
*grins*

So how's your Friday so far?

Le New Office

So, people have been asking me where's my new office, what's it like, what have I been doing? Well, today I'm going to answer all of them! With proof of pictures I had managed to snap here and there, throughout my 2 weeks being here.

This is already up since my first day of work...
they celebrate belated X'mas and the New Year together =)

Look at all the gifts wei!
I was told that I would have my share as well!
How awesome is that??!!
After a short party, I collected my gift!
Boy was it an awesome gift!
I no longer need to find a mouse for my laptop!
Wootza!

Le Mouse is damn cool!

Like seriously cool!
Not to forget that it's really bright too!
Apart from that, I had learned that there is Zen Room in the office!
Accessible at any time!
Do you see what I see?

This is what I do whenever I can...
It's super comfty and very much relaxing...
Envy much? =P
So... back to the questions:

Where am I working at right now? I'm with a Corporate Video Production House, cCubeTV. My office is together with Munchy's (parent company ma). So, yeah that's why you see Munchy's logo in the first picture =)

What do I work as? I'm in an entirely new profession officially, Business Development Executive (BDE) aka Sales Executive.

Where's my office? To MANY people's surprise that I chose a workplace in Klang, roughly 36km from my house in Bukit Jalil / Sri Petaling area.

How much is my pay to work that far? Unfortunately, I can't disclose this information as it is P&C, I hope you understand. But I can share with you, that it is worth it. Not only because of the pay, but also for the experience and knowledge that I can gain from here, both Munchy's and cCubeTV =) (and no I'm not paid to say any of the above).

Last 2 Days of Work

Well, I guess at this point of time, there's nothing much to be done here. I've pretty much closed up my tasks, transitioned out outstanding tasks to relevant parties, and followed up on some minor works... Today, they're all done!

Tomorrow's my last day at work!

However, another colleague beat me to it. Her last day is today itself (a day earlier than me!). So we went for her farewell lunch at the nearby KFC. The above picture has had their faces censored to protect their identities, lol.

After lunch, well, we headed back to office to continue our work. For me, I'm starting to clean up my desk, pack my stuffs, clear things out, and you know the drill goes on. I'd probably be missing my "island" (a term used by some colleagues of mine; referring to section of open cubicles). I still have a day left to do whatever there is to do here =)

Final Week at Workplace!

Wow, in a blink of the eye, months have passed and here I am serving my final week at office. Looking back at how I've started, things have been pretty great for me. From the simple-minded fresh grad I were a year ago, I joined the company as an associate consultant cum jr. business analyst and within the span of a year, I got promoted to senior consultant rank. Not bad for a rookie, huh? *grins* For those of you who are yet to know me, when I'm at work, I somehow transformed into a raging bull towards its target, or so I've been told.

"You're very aggressive at work.. Slow down la, chill a bit"
"The word 'BUSY' never seems to run away from you. In fact, I believe its your synonym..."

Yea those are the words coming from friends. And I'm happy that I'm being noticed by my efforts, and to have them supported by friends and the management team from the company. It's been a superb experience, I'd say!

I'll bring forward all the things I've learnt and apply whatever I can, as I move forward into the next "ship".

For now, I've gotta get back to work... Wanna ensure that I cover all ends on my side, before I hand over the tasks back to my team =)

Importance of Appreciation

Each and everyone of us needs some words of affirmation every now and then. And knowing that at least someone acknowledges our efforts in performing a certain task, makes a whole lot of difference to us, and somewhat impacts our future performances. If you didn't already know about this, maybe you might want to try and see the positive effects of the affirming words when used on someone you appreciate. Below are some words that you might want to affect on others:
"You do such a great job!  Keep it up."
"I just wanted to let you know—the things you do for (me, the company, our group) do not go unnoticed.  You’re a necessary piece to this puzzle.  I appreciate your dedication and service, and I know others do too."
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your commitment.  You are not only a valued member of this group, you’re a dear friend.  I can’t imagine working without you."
"If I tried to tell you how much I appreciate you, I’d be talking the rest of my life.  I hope that, in some small way, you realize how much you’ve meant to me, and how truly I desire to give back to you."
"Someday I hope to give to you a fraction of all you’ve given me."
"No words can express, no act of gratitude can relay, no gift can represent what your love and support have meant to me.  Please accept this note as an indicator of my heartfelt appreciation for everything you are."
“Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.” – Voltaire
At my workplace, I notice that regardless of positions and ranks, many yearns for some form of appreciation and one of them would be words of affirmation. I'm planning to leverage on this to see how they can better impact the organization and its employees.

Office Update!

It’s been a while since I wrote much from office. Since I got some spare time, I’m taking the opportunity to explore the Windows Live Writer application. Speaking of it, I’ve had this installed on some of my machines (personal and work) but never actually used it. Sure I launched the program before, but I’ve never written nor published anything from the application.

So let’s see how this turns out in a bit, once I’ve submitted/published this online Smile

Temporarily, I’ve got quite some tasks in hand both personal and work. Personal-wise, well it’s friends and household stuffs; and work, well it’s just work. Challenging, yet intriguing Winking smile. Alright, so let’s see how this looks like when it’s up! *clicks on publish*

Update: Not bad I reckon, other than some formatting issues, I'd say it's pretty swell! I may start using the Live Writer after all! Smile

Blogging from Blogger App (via iPod)

Download the app from days ago, but only now that I wish to try the app myself. So far it looks great - simple and easy to navigate around.

Took a snapshot of it via my iPod, and let's see how it looks like in the post once it has been saved =)

And this is me wishing everyone a good day at work!
I'll be taking half day leave, so I'll be out of office by lunch =)

Oh, before I forget, Selamat Hari Malaysia! *winks*

Update:
Apparently, I can't arrange the picture uploads and their positions via the app =(
Or is there a way to do so, but I haven't found it?

5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace

By doing the following, it could potentially increase the value of your company and productivity + efficiency of your employees:

Express genuine appreciation to coworkers & staff — even on a tight budget.
Increase loyalty with the employees and volunteers in your organization.
Reduce cynicism and create a more positive work environment.
Decrease staff burnout and the sense of being ‘used’.
Improve your ability to show appreciation for difficult colleagues.

Taken from 5lovelanguages.com, written by Dr. Chapman and Dr. White, though I’m yet to buy the book, but having to read through the 1st chapter of the book simply made me realize the power of true communication using sincerity not just at home or with friends, but at workplace.

How I came across this? This was actually recommended by a good friend of mine, Dave Rogers, and so, I searched up for it. It’s a really good read, and I urge anyone who has been running or working in a business to get a copy of this book! =) I’ll soon be getting my copy! *grins*

Gone? Back?

Most people would have thought I'd give up on blogging already. Nope, I did not. Just that I've been REALLY REALLY busy to the point, I'd barely have time for myself. That's honest to the heart.

So what's happening? Well, I've been traveling lately, BUT it's for business purposes. Recently, been assigned to certain project (of which details I cannot disclose to you due to private and confidential matters) and it requires me to be onshore/on-site at my client's office(s). What I can share with you is that I've been around Jakarta and Bangkok these couple of weeks =P Unfortunately, due to time constraint I didn't have the luxury to explore the cities nor have time to take pictures - unless you're interested in hotel views from the inside, and the buffet breakfast in which I had most mornings, or even the canteen/food court food during lunches and dinners. *takes a look at you* Well, I guess not.

So what's before that? Seriously, busy office works. No doubt, I was the runner for many projects (yes, I'm involved in various projects). Organizing, planning, development, coordinating, leading, you name it - I've been in many areas, far beyond my job scope as well. Now you know why I'm busy? Why? I guess I wanted to make a point to everyone - Jeffro's in town, and he's playing a strong game!

Ego Can Wait

Seeing that message, my ego didn't stop me.
And I had to wait for a good 5-10 minutes before I get started on my work...
That was enough time to munch on my breakfast - Big Pao and Tea

System Down Kicking in a Song

Am doing testing for a new system, in which is still under development, but apparently there's many down time. And off late, these plentiful of down times have spark a song which somewhat make sense to me now...

"Baby, are you down, down, down, down, down?
Down... down...
You oughta know,
Tonight is the night to let it go
We'll put on a show
I wanna see how you lose control

So leave it behind
'Cause we have a night to get away
So come on and fly with me
As we make our great escape"

See what I mean? It makes perfect sense now. It's time to get away! =P Unfortunately for me, that "great escape" of mine is in another 1.5 hours from now. *singing Baby are you down, down, down, down, down*...

When I'm in Singapore

A few weeks back, I had gotten my first opportunity to work outstation (as in out of the country) and Singapore was a good start (there'll be more, and UK's one of the future destination *smiles*). Well, since I can't snap picture of work, and neither did I get the chance to roam Singapore freely on my own due to time constraint, what I managed to do is during my free time (after working hours) I got hold of Nathalie and YingZi (more like the other way around actually) for a dinner / supper. So that was the only time I managed to take pictures.

By the way, we had our dinner at Astons
(which requires a lot of waiting!)

Here's a snap of Nath while waiting in-line of the queue,
and also for YingZi to arrive

We finally got seated... look at their happy faces~~
=P

Here's Nath and I,
she's my lifesaver in Singapore, and I'm geographically-retarded

They insisted that I did the Asian-pose...

Alright enough of them or me
(cause that's the only pictures I have on people *ashamed*)

Let's check out the food shall we??

Astons about western style, so here's what we ate:

Chargrill Chicken
w/ Mashed Potato and Tasty Rice
(served at SGD 6.90)

Lemon Lime Chicken
w/ Mashed Potato and Onion Rings
(served at SGD 6.90)

Hickory BBQ Chicken
w/ Baked Potato and French Fries
(served at SGD 6.90)

Awwww... Did I make you hungry?
I'm sorry... Not!! It's lunch time!
What are ya doing looking at this? You should be out eating by now!

hehehe...

Well, FYI, I only found Astons in Singapore..
In fact, I believe they're all over Singapore...

So which one doesn't require waiting?
My best guess is the outlet in Changi Airport...
How would I know? Simple, I ate there before I left back to ye' ol' KL
=D

HOLLA from Me Office!

Time flies and little did you know that ... Well, if you're guessing that I was going to continue with "it's the new year already", you're about to be corrected. Here's what I was about to say:

"Time flies and little did you know that, I'm already back in office and it feels like an old year again (doesn't feel any different out of the norm, especially for a new year). Guess it's back to the rush-for-deadlines moments for most of us. Yes, note the 'most of us' statement, because some of you reading this ain't rushing at all. In fact, some middle-schoolers have just completed their SPM about a month ago and have been enjoying their holiday spree. Yea, yea, yea, enjoy it while it last! *evil laughs*"

Well, that was exactly what I wanted to say. See, told ya (especially SOME of you out there) not to try and play guessing with me =P Anyways, I've gotta get back to work.

Those of you feeling the Monday-blues,
chillax, it'll be in no time till its off-work hours!
So have a great day, and enjoy the splendid week!

The Future is Here!

I was able to send out an email yesterday but dating next week...

Even my colleagues were puzzled...

Usually, we have "Today", "Yesterday", "Last Two Days" and so forth...
But today we have "Next Week" in our inboxes! LOL
(I usually a copy back to myself)

It's Official!

Guess what??!! Yes way!! I'm officially a Business Analyst / Consultant. Things couldn't go better than it already is =D Well actually I hope it does! Next thing, would be turning into a Senior, or directly go into the Management level =D

"You're doing a good job here. Keep it up!" says Boss.

Be Careful or Be FRat!

Yeah, that's what I meant!

Better watch your lefts and rights when crossing the road!
Else you'll be like that FRat (Flat Rat)!

It's as flat as a couple of quality A4s together...

My Desktop

Ahhh, don't you like a clean and neat desk?
=P

Keep 'Em Coming!

Gotta love 'em colleagues. They're pretty thoughtful in many ways, no matter what they do. I haven't been around that long, but I've met some pretty nice colleagues.

I feel loved.

LOL, actually I grabbed this from one of my colleagues.
I was lucky, 'cause it's the last on her table.
Then, I winked at her.
*grins*

I'm very playful at my workplace...
But don't get me wrong though, by playful means I'm jovial and
I get along well with others =)

Yeah gotta zip it up for now =P

Got this from my 'neighbor' who has just recently 'moved away'
to another corner of the 'neighborhood' =(

This is from another colleague of another department...
Oh did I mention that our departments here means different project?
Well I just did! =P
So technically different departments (projects) but
same floor of the same building =D

All this makes my day better than it is
Teehee!

There's a Clown in the Office!

Guess who's the clown?

=P
