YES! 2009 @ PICC

Thanks to Nuffnang and ChrisTock, I was given the opportunity to attend the Youth Engagement Summit (YES!) 2009 sometime last week, which was the Monday of November 17th. I must say it's a pretty good experience for me. Somewhat it re-affirmed what I had believed, and open my mind to some other perspectives.

The main entrance of YES 2009
We were there since 9am

These are the speakers for the two days, but due to me only attending
the second day, I only met 3/4 of them...

That's my pass!

There were many inspiring speakers that day...
But here's some of them

First speaker was Gary Kasperov.

A very interesting talk by him as Gary focuses on aggression and initiation.
"We must be aggressive in making decision... We need to take initiative in doing something, before being asked to do it"
According to Gary, in the business world, it is better to provide people
with what they need before they ask for what they want.

Also, Gary emphasizes that courage and will power will lead one to
building a new world. One should always be objective of his/her strength and weaknesses - be creative based on own strength and opponent(s)'s advantages. Use everything to your advantage.

Then, guess who "shows" up from New York city?
Yes people, it's Donald Trumph himself live on web cam!

Donald Trumph has his own ways and definition of success and aggression.
For him, success never changes. Anyone can be successful if:
1. Love what you're doing 2. Know the subject well 3. Do the task right

He also states, "If somebody screws you, screw them back!"
His method(s) may be a little too aggressive, but it works for him,
and for many other successful businessmen at his level.

Donald strongly says that Focus, Confidence and Discipline are important
factors that leads people to their dreams. One must be able to handle the
pressure of being successful, and believe in him/herself that he/she can
tackle that goal.

Someone asked, "Mr Trumph, will Donald Trumph hire Donald Trumph?"
He answered, "Probably not, 'cause I'm afraid Donald Trumph will take
over my business *laughs*"

Up next, we have Randi Zuckerberg from Facebook!
Yes, this cheerful looking lady is one of the 'big guys' in Facebook...

She mainly focuses on how Facebook has expanded their network,
and in her explanation, there were quite a few tips on how to get
around in the business world...
Guess we all gotta "read between the lines" eh?

So according to her, if you want to make an impact, you have to be
creative - always thinking of new ways to present things, and solve problems
Never stop and be satisfied with what you have, instead make and effort
to tell yourself, there's more to explore, there's more to learn, and certainly
there's more to provide.

Randi is as interesting as she talks... and to prove that,
a question came from the floor...
"Randi, are you single?"
She laughs, and told the guy gently that she was already married...

In between the talks, there were tit bits and there was also lunch
held in a big hall... and oh if you're wondering who's the young lady there,
that's Zoeyve wearing a YES! 2009 cap

During the break times, many who were there (mostly foreigners)
took the chance to take a group picture.
It's a good day for a picha! *snap*

And this is one of the reasons why...
There's a good background!

And so we continued with the talks which lasted till about 6pm...
It was definitely tiring, but worth it!

Here's the bunch, minus off ChrisTock and YapThomas (aka Thomas Trumph
aka M'sian Donald Trumph, who's doing business everywhere, and suddenly
disappears to somewhere, and re-appears out of no where)

At the end of the talks, the audience stood up giving a round applause
with standing ovation cheering on how great the YES! 2009 is...
Moments later, when the music plays, everyone rushes down!

Zoeyve pointing out to the crowd down there!

With strong beats coming from the drummer,
making their theme song livelier than it expected...

The crowds goes wild cheering for YES! 2009....
It's been a successful event, and hope to see everyone again in the next one!

Well folks that's all from YES! 2009

And so this is Jeffro say Good Day, over and out!

Supper With Family

Haven't been doing it in quite some time now. So finally when the time's right, stomach's good-for-it, I decided to call for "Supper Time", family smiled at me, and said "YES!". So where did we go to? Earlier tonight, we went to a nearby mamak, rather well-known to most locals - Steven's Corner at OUG, the place that sells one of the best Cheese Naans!

Sorry for the dark pictures... Captured with cameraphone (K750i)
and did some exposure editing with Photoshop

Here's the Cheese Naan...
Seriously, taste it once and you'll want more!

Check out that wicked cheese!
*grins*

Mum ordered Roti John, that kinda looks like Murtabak..
Haha.. But it was awesome!
Especially going with the gravy there!

So what are you waiting for?
Go grab your Cheese Naan!

Some Changes

If you've noticed (please tell me you do, otherwise, I'll com and scrap your eye balls out... lol just kidding, I'm a nice person, really... xD) there's a major change to the colors and the header/banner...

Actually I made the header sometime back, but recently slotted the slogan at the bottom of the header/banner... Ignore the menu under the banner, am still working on that. Apparently some codes doesn't work and it's getting on my nerves, hence I stop for the moment. Will get that sorted out ASAP. =)

Tell me your opinion on the new look
*grins*

I'm Revealing My True Self to You

Had nothing better to do earlier, browse around... And came across something interested posted by PamSong about some personality test... For once, there's something I find quite accurate. Well, though we're not very close buddies, but I do *coughs* somewhat know a lil' about her, here and there... personality-wise, I mean...

And so I also gave it a try myself...
And here's what's in for me!

You are an Advocating Builder.

About Me:
You are a Builder
You are detail-oriented, cautious, and practical, making you a BUILDER. You are excellent at focusing on the concrete, functional elements of things, so you're good at making things happen. Pursuing novel ways of doing things helps you to be efficient. You're great to have on a team, as you understand how things work and don't let your ego get in the way. You're perceptive, down-to-earth, and realistic.
You don't see a need to commit to a set routine or schedule—you'd rather improvise a little. Although you may doubt yourself sometimes, you have the skills and the curiosity to pursue broader adventures. You like to consider a lot of information before making big decisions, and you think about that information in realistic, thorough ways. You don't concern yourself with flashy styles or surface appearances—you're far too sensible for that. You're well-attuned to your emotional state, and not afraid to use your feelings to guide you. You tend to be cooperative, rarely contradicting others, and always considerate of their feelings. Generally, you believe that you control your life, and that external forces only play a limited role in determining what happens to you.

How I relate to others:
You are Advocating

Being social, empathic, and understanding makes you ADVOCATING. Some people find being around others exhausting—but not you! You are energized by spending time with friends, and you are good at meeting new people. One of the reasons you enjoy conversation as much as you do is that you often learn about yourself while talking things out with a friend; you realize things about your own beliefs while discussing them with others. You have insight into what others are thinking and feeling. This ability allows you to be happy for others, and to commiserate when something has gone wrong for them. You are highly compassionate, and being conscious of how things affect those close to you leaves you cautious about trusting others too hastily. Despite these reservations, you are open-minded when it comes to your worldview; you don't look to impose your ways on others. Your sensitivity towards others' plights contributes to an understanding—both intellectual and emotional—of many different perspectives. As someone who understands the complexities of the world around you, you are reluctant to pass judgments.

So try yours here to see your Personal DNA.

UCTI's Prom Night @ Crown Plaza Hotel

UCTI Annual Year End Gathering (YEG) aka Prom Night of 2009 was held on the 15th November at the Crown Plaza Hotel. This time around, the theme was Winter Masquerade, where even the setting of the location resembles that of a winter season - cold and bluish environment, with guest dressing up well along with a mask giving a more mysterious feeling of the beholder.

The event crews and performers arrived at the hotel earlier not only to help out with set up, but also to do the final check ups and rehearsal for the evening.

Fellow performers doing soundcheck

as well as psyching up (mental warm ups)

Some needed the spiritual peace before doing anything further

While others were helping out to clean up...
Wouldn't like a messy place, do we?

Then, came Mark who briefed all the performers for the last time...

And now it's time for last practice...

and so they went on the stage to calibrate their moves alongside
the area of the stage to ensure everything went well...
Others did their sound check,
while some practice their routine for the last time...

Then it was time to get the make ups on and the attires ready...

This is one of the groups ready in their individual's outfit

Then comes show time! Guests starts arriving, and it builds up a crowd in mere moments. The guests registers themselves, and then awaits patiently for the grand doors to open. What awaits them inside is a thrill only to be discovered when the doors are opened. While waiting the guests had their own chit chat with one another, catching moments together and having themselves their own moments of laughter.

After the performance, it was time to say "Dinner is served" where 14 different dishes of buffet style awaits the guests. Dinner was accompanied by the smooth strummings and melodious singing by an acoustic group.

The night went on with various performance such as fashion show, dancing, singing, musical performances and talent show. All of them were unique in their ways and were very entertaining. Before the night ended, it was the moment of the truth where the hosts and hostess announced the official Mister and Miss Confidence, Prom Prince and Princess, and Prom King and Queen that was voted by the crowd earlier.
